2nd Annual Speech Competition at Brenau University

Join us for the 2nd Annual Brenau University Speech Competition on Wednesday, November 8, 2023!

In honor of the "G" year of Brenau University's GOLD Program, we are celebrating gender, which includes authenticity, alliance, and advocacy for all people. We invite 5-7 minute recorded speech submissions relating to one or more of these topics, with or without visual aids. All students at the high school and college level are invited to submit. Do you have a speech that will inspire our community? Once your recording has been submitted by the initial due date, a panel of Brenau faculty, staff, and students will determine who will advance to the final round. Competitors in the final round will be invited to campus to deliver their speeches; the best speeches in each age category will receive cash prizes and Brenau swag! This event is hosted by the Department of Communication at Brenau University.

WHEN: NOVEMBER 8, 2023. Finalists will be chosen from the pool and notified in time for the fall competition. Initial submissions are due online by NOVEMBER 1st, 2023 (DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!).

WHERE: Brenau Trustee Library, 500 Washington St SE, Gainesville, GA 30501 - Thurmond McRae Auditorium.  There is ample parking to the right of the library. 

HOW: An initial, recorded speech entry must be uploaded to YouTube by by NOVEMBER 1st, 2023 (DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!) in order to be considered for the competition. If you are accepted to compete in the final round, you will be notified and you will present your speech in person at the Speech Competition! Fill out the form below to indicate your interest -- you'll get information about how to submit your materials in a confirmation email.
